Does anyone else read during breakfast? I feel like books feed me as much a food…a side dish to my smoothie bowl! 📚🍴 Re-visiting an oldie but a goodie today, a must-have book for any bookshelf 👌🏻 In fact, anything Dr Christiane Northrup has written is a must-have…I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learnt about myself and my body thanks to her 🙏🏻🙌🏻

Here’s just one pearl of wisdom from this book that really resonates with me…. Continue Reading…

Time For Turmeric Milk!

April 17, 2016

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll know my heart beats strong for nut milks. I love the process of making them as much as the end product which tastes creamy and so good. Before I made nut milks, I would buy them from the store – thinking I was doing the right thing for my body, as I had read all about how dairy can really aggravate the digestive system, especially if you’re Continue Reading…

The REAL DEAL Banana Bread!

February 5, 2016

I use the term ‘real’ because this recipe is really what banana bread should taste like if it were made into actual bread. It wasn’t until I studied to become a Natural Foods Chef last year that I learnt the beloved banana bread Continue Reading…

I’m Dreaming Of A (Healthy) White Christmas…

December 23, 2015

THIS recipe is the bees knees… Seriously! I used to make this at school before the Christmas holidays. My whole class would squish into the small ‘tuck shop’ (that’s Aussie-speak for ‘canteen’) to make this delicious treat that was then wrapped in fancy cellophane paper and nursed all the way home that day to be gifted to our parents. Ahhh, memories! Continue Reading…

Try This Turmeric Milk!

October 27, 2015
chef shine

Tired of smoothies and herbal teas? This milkly melange will your satisfy sweet cravings whilst supporting your insides to work well. Aside from the healthy fats provided by the nut milk, this tasty treat contains more than two dozen anti-inflammatory compounds, thanks to a very important component called curcumin.

I first began cooking with Turmeric around the time my father was diagnosed with cancer. At that point in my life I was largely unaware of just ho powerful food can be. Cut to now, after becoming a Natural Foods Chef, and I have a whole new respect for food, but also my love for spices has grown. I will be sharing more spice-related, health supportive dishes very soon. Let’s start with this treat, I hope you enjoy every sip :)

Easy Peasy Green Smoothie

October 24, 2015

In between studying, cooking and studying here in New York City, I have been working on a series of fun n’ yum videos to share with you. It’s part of a delicious collaboration between my school, the Natural Gourmet Institute and my favourite magazine of all time,  Yoga Journal – exciting stuff for this enthusiastic Natural Foods Chef-slash-Yogini! All too often we get so busy with life that food takes a backseat. It’s so much easier to grab something from the shelves of the supermarket that looks remotely healthy (or maybe not) to sustain us until the next time our tummy grumbles. I totally get it. I’ve been there, done that for way too long than I’d like to admit. There was a time in my life when Continue Reading…
