Happy FriYAY! I wanted to give you a little glimpse into my day…

It all began at the Union Square markets this morning. I was keen to see what kinds of flowers were on offer because we had very special guests visit us at school today to enjoy our brunch offerings we had prepped the day before. But more on that later – first, take a look at these flowers!!

After the market visit, it was onwards to school to continue prepping for our brunch spectacular which went incredibly well – all food was devoured! I’ve included a two pics below so you can see a small sample of the types of scrumptious, health-supportive dishes we created… But first, let me show you our bright n’ happy table setting… (those mini muffins were made by yours truly!)

On the left is our gluten free, dairy free chickpea crepe with home fries, caramelised onions and fresh greens. On the right, a detoxifying spinach, pine nut and red onion and shiitake bacon salad (my favourite!).

We served 25 guests in total, including my beloved husband who enjoyed every bite, (so I’m told!) extremely delighted to see every single plate arrive back in the kitchen wiped clean of every last morsel of food, hooray! A very reassuring sign that we know what we’re doing, phew!

It was a short day, after brunch – cleanup and a debrief with our Chef Instructor before we were given the ‘all clear’ to venture out of the kitchen and into the concrete jungle. Before I show you what I found on my way home this afternoon, I can’t resist sharing a quick pic of two gorgeous chefmates of mine: Seiko and Marisa – taken before we began service… You know me by now – simply can’t resist a selfie (or 10!).

On the way home, I HAD to pay a visit to one of the most interesting bakeries in New York – I just love to walk by and see what creations are on sale each day, as they change daily. Today, it was a very child-like theme, just take a look at these:

Pretty intense for a cupcake right? I have no idea how anyone could stomach THAT much cream frosting, but there was a line outside the door for these babies!

Tomorrow, I’m heading to my favourite fresh food market in Chinatown to grab some yummy supplies to cook up a storm in my kitchen. I am wanting to practice a few new recipe ideas before I share them with you, so stay tuned friends! LOTS of delicious, immune-supportive, natural food is coming your way soon…
