Welcome to my blog. I am so glad you decided to stop by; I do hope you’ll take some time, have a browse.
Right now there’s not a lot of content (actually I think this is my first post!) but for good reason…
After much consideration, I decided to create this blog at the very beginning of my journey to becoming a Natural Foods Chef.
I invite you to learn with me each week how to cook, prepare and present delicious, healthy, REAL food.
Hang on a sec, who’s ‘me’?
I’m Danielle Shine, a fun-loving ex-communication professional, yoga teacher, personal trainer, Integrative nutritionist, wife, and lover of life.
When it comes to dieting and obsessing about food, I’ve ‘been there done that’. I’ve spent wasted so many hours adding calories, eating cabbage, trying Paleo and all the other crazy fad diets promising to be THE ‘perfect’ diet to help keep me trim, slim and happy.
Truth is, there’s no such thing… for me anyway, and maybe not for you either.
After many years of disorderly eating, my body finally ran out of juice. Bits of me stopped working and my bones grew weak. It wasn’t until I almost died during a routine medical examination that I realised the damage I was doing – and for what reason?
At that point in time I decided I had so much to live for. I decided I wasn’t going to be a victim. So I began studying. Devouring real food and information about how to prolong my life, to make my bones stronger and my gut healthier.
I’m still working on it, but so far, so foodie good! I’m making amazing discoveries and recoveries of my mind, body and soul and am no longer frightened or confused by food – I want this for you too…
Which is why I will be blogging and vlogging about my delish discoveries in the kitchen each week in Chef in the City. I’m becoming a Natural Foods Chef to help myself, sure, but I also want to help you.
So click that little tab in your browser, add me to your ‘favourites’ and be sure to visit regularly. Come back to get your cook on – you won’t need much, just your computer or device, a kitchen and a smile.
Here’s a smoothie recipe to get you started for the day and to get me started in the world of blogging… Enjoy!
1 cup kale
1 scoop protein powder (OPTIONAL and your choice, I use brown rice protein)
¼ cup almonds (or any other nut)
½ cup strawberries or raspberries
½-1 tablespoon honey (OPTIONAL and raw is best)
½ cup milk (I suggest coconut for a creamier, sweeter taste)
½ cup water (filtered is best)
Whizz all of the ingredients up and drink from your favourite glass or mug for an added touch of SHINE.
